Point Loma is a peninsula surrounded by water.
The smell of the sea permeates the air in Point Loma. Blue-green marinas
dot the shoreline on the bayside of the peninsula offering a full range
of services for yachts, sailboats, and fishing vessels. Point Loma has
some of the city's oldest and most interesting homes. It is one of the
wealthiest areas of the county and its home to many of the "old
money" families of San Diego. Its beautiful tree-shaded streets
are lined with well-manicured homes of every architectural persuasion,
but it probably has more of the popular Spanish-style architecture than
any other community in the county.
